Png2Icon is a simple and effective graphic application that allows you to create icons from your favorite images in just a few clicks. Despite the unambiguous name of this small tool, you can use any TIFF, JPEG, or PNG image as a source of your new icons. All the resizing and resampling processes are automated, and it supports both Windows and Mac OS X icon formats.
Creating your icon files with Png2Icon is a simple and gratifying task. Its simplicity of use is based on a well-structured and intuitive interface. You just need to load the selected source image and decide which part of it will appear in the final icon - you can include the whole image or crop it to highlight a fragment of it. The program will automatically re-encode the image using high-quality resampling filters which guarantee the minimum possible loss of quality.
The program shows you the final appearance of the icon in five different sizes – 256x256, 128x128, 64x64, 48x48, and 32x32. Once you are happy with the results, you can then save your icon as either an ICO file (for Windows applications) or as an ICNS file (for use with MAC OS X). |
